My grandfather told me at 8 years old that i needed to learn to feel the strings and notes before I started using a pick, I still rarely use one.

The right pick makes all the difference, at least for bass guitar , Idk I kinda just love trying them out too lol its the easiest and laziest way to find new sounds and modes of play in my opinion.

I never learned to play with a pic either and used finger picking on acoustic guitar it wasn’t until I played an electric guitar that I used a pic
