DG seems to get more comments her than HBM. Both are great, and in some ways similar (bend notes with both tremolo and fingers) and yet different. I also happen to know that both are also real gentlemen in this world of selfish mega stars. But before HBM there really was nothing like a true lead solo guitarist. DG has been very gracious in recognising, even to the extent that he turned to the Stratocaster "because Hank Marvin made it sound so good." But what makes them so good is that sheer artistry that is so rare. DG makes strings soar, Hank makes music sound so easy and yet as Jimmy Page said "there is a serious technique going on" behind HBM's playing.

I went to see Hank late 2015 playing Gypsy Jazz and the technique was dazzling, but art above anything else, substance before flashiness. Please get your hands on his "Django" album and enjoy another side to his particular genius.
