just broke my G and high-E string. What a waste of €8!

9carva says:

i love D’Addario strings

daddariostrings says:

You can start playing right away. If you stretch your strings individually, the strings will settle in faster some it’s not necessary. You’ll notice that after you play for a few minutes, you’ll need to tune up again. Probably a few times before the metal stretches out and settle into pitch. No need to wait any time at all.

Lone Wolf says:

how long after restringing should I wait before tuning and playing? thanks

SophiesOtherAccount says:

Okay, I’ll give that a try, thank you!!

daddariostrings says:

Peg Winders have bridge pin pullers on them – it’s a tiny cut out in the plastic. If you have one, check to see if the portion that slips over the tuning gear has a small notch in it. That can be used for leverage in extracting your bridge pins. Good luck.

SophiesOtherAccount says:

My peg won’t come out, so annoying!

daddariostrings says:

.010 to .046 is our most popular selling set – EXL110. You can also get them in coated form, which is our EXP110. Thanks for your kind words.

missbebette says:

aww LOL same happened to me 🙁 I was so motivated and ready and I’m quite handy in general… but last week, first time re-stringing on my own, and first one snapped!
bought my second set… trying again in a few mins 😀
gotta get this on lock - glad to see Don is gonna help you out there mousehead2000 –
awesome service via Youtube @ daddariostrings!
send some luck, hope I get it this time around ;P

c kelly says:

Thats why this company is simply awesome

c kelly says:

Thanks for the help I was thinking about taking all the strings off to have a look. Also I love D’addario strings. Been playing for around 13 months and its all I have used. However, I got a 1994 Fender USA Strat as a gift and my dad had the shop restring it with D’Addario .010 -.046 gauge strings. These bad boys lasted without corrosion (bare in mind I play around 1.5-2 hours a day) for about 3.5-4 months. Any idea which D’Addario strings these were?

daddariostrings says:

WOW, that’s a toughie – might make sense to have a pro look at that. If you take all the strings off, you might be able to push the pin back up thru the guitar, by putting your hand inside the guitar and seeing if you can feel the pin inside the bridge plate. But honestly, it would be safer and easier to have a tech look at it.

daddariostrings says:

Send me an email don (dot) dawson2 (at) daddario (dot) com and we’ll get you a replacement set

c kelly says:

Tried getting the pin out because my string snapped. I didn’t have the brute force to pull the pin out of its place as it was stuck in there with a tiny piece of snapped b string. So I used pliers and snapped the pin in half. Now I have half the pin jammed in there with some b string.

daddariostrings says:

what string set was it?

daddariostrings says:

When you put the pin in the guitar – give it a little spin either clockwise or counterclockwise – it’ll help seat the string a little better.

mousehead2000 says:

i just tried to restring my e string and the damn thing snapped! i am not happy. now i have to buy a whole new set for £8!

haarry day says:

The music in the back ground is annoying.

CanadianSinna says:

Why is it every time I go to restring a guitar, I want to kill something?

daddariostrings says:

The thing to do is, as you begin to bring the string up to tension (by turning the tuning gear), just as the string begins to become taut, push the pin down and turn it ever so slightly to one side and then continue to bring the string up to pitch.

GxRATE says:

My low E bridge pin keeps poping out when i start to tune!

daddariostrings says:

thanks – sorry – we messed up the email address- send them to George (dot) Santos with the dot daddario dot com ending. thanks again

Kent san says:

Yeah, you’re right I probably bought fake strings, of course D’addario strings wouldn’t sound like this one.. sure i’ll mail you the pictures. Thanks a lot! 😀

daddariostrings says:

There shouldn’t be any difference but to be honest – there are many counterfeit string sets out there – in some countries as many as 8 out of 10 D’Addario sets are fake. You can check if you’re buying REAL D’Addario strings by going to our PLAY REAL website. We can’t put a link in YouTube but the address is daddario (dot) com (backslash) Playreal – we’re going to guess you purchased fake strings. can you send us a picture of them?

Kent san says:

I just bought a D’addario EZ900 extralight strings(.010-.050) but why it seems harder to press and to tune? compared to the factory strings which was included when i bought my guitar they are softer to press and smoother to tune the pegs… after playing a couple of songs on my new d’addario strings, they sound numb and the crispyness of the sound was gone…. or is it just that i bought a mainstream “version” of d’addario? just bought at 380php($9) or is it that i restringed my guitar wrong?…

adriana011292 says:

Time to restring my guitar ☺

KaslarProductions says:

I’ve heard from others that if the string is overlapping itself on the tuning peg is will cause unwanted strain at that specific intersection, making it more likely to break later on. why would you wrape the string like you did here “locking in place”? it seems like a bad idea to me

starsky1012 says:

I suck at this completely.

Bro Brandon says:

I fallowed the way he did it
And it worked out just amazing!!!
Easiest and most effective I’ve found yet
I highly suggest using his method
Just do it one string at a time
So 5th then 1st. And so on
Zig zag back and forth

2ltmtndew says:

im waaay too scared to restring an acoustic..

Cassandra Howles says:

I do. It’s not too uncommon…

daddariostrings says:

Not without switching the nut (the little white thing at the top of your fretboard – that guides the strings). The nut has slots in it cut to match the thickness of the strings. If you switched it around the the thickest string wouldn’t fit into the slot properly and the thinnest would be moving all over the place.

silverflyt says:

I’m guessing this guy is a pro technician, so…probably not a problem for him. Don’t try this at home? lol

OwenSaysNo says:

I do…

PD van der Westhuizen says:

There’s nothing wrong with doing it? I always do it with my Telecaster and the intonation stays fine.

Indy Shanman says:

Just use google -_- people like you make you make me cringe

cityhunterfan says:

Um, I have that “wind up thing” as do many people who change guitar strings frequently. It makes it easier and faster to wind than by turning the tuners using wrist actions.

awolreviewerdj says:

It isn’t going to hurt it, if they are all off for fifteen minutes.

jocey garza says:

can i change a right handed acoustic guitar into a left handed one???

James king says:

Thank you bro.

shewholovesthesun says:

I use this video every time I go to change my strings 🙂

KaylaDaMushroom says:

Who the hell has that wind up thing in their house.

thingshappen13 says:

He must be talking about tension. a lot of people say it’s bad for the guitar if you remove all the strings at once because it loosens up the neck and the tension is very low until you restring it. supposedly this weakens the neck. I really have no idea if that is actually true but it must be what he means

VinylMilitia says:

great video
