NOTE: MY GUITAR IS TUNED DOWN 1/2 STEP - more below. For the complete lesson, check out http://www.jimbowley.com/2012/03/for-lead-guitarists-ten-basic-moves/. For all the FREE lessons and tips, visit http://www.jimbowley.com
At its core, playing lead guitar is a matter of mastering some fundamental movements and combining them to form seemingly complex phrases. In this lesson, we'll boil everything down to Ten Basic Moves!
PLEASE NOTE THAT MY GUITAR IS TUNED DOWN 1/2 STEP. This was not intentional, but rather a mistake - sorry for any confusion. You can either tune your guitar down 1/2 to match me or simply play the examples one fret lower. Remember that these are just movement combos - they can be played anywhere on the neck.

Thank you very Jim
Really great lesson and very helpful thanks
You sound great to me
Aria PE 1000 GE by any chance.. ?
You shouldn't be tuning down blablablah. Fuck you haters, go to your gaming channels. Thanks Jim for your effort!!
those are like solo intro licks when a guitarist is getting warmed up and setting the listeners up for a surprise when the trail blazing blistering fingers of shred take the audience into an excursion of, "this is the sound of a master you'll whish you were" bring on the guitar god lesson,, ha ha 🤘😈🤘
Great. Now I gotta find a video about tuning your guitar down so I can follow this one. Guess I'm more of a beginner than I thought. 🤘😕
Good stuff Jim. love your work
Jim, great job. I'm also a teacher. I'll be sending people your way now that I'm no longer able to. I was sold when I heard the bends to pitch. What a great easy to understand video. Thank you for keeping our passion alive.
Link is not working
Good lesson but not beginner stuff, it was a couple of years before I could do any thing like this and half step tuning down is common but not really beginner stuff but thanks for the helpful lesson
to all guitar gods complaining about this video: 1. on behalf of Jim I must say: sorry if somebody forced you at gun point to spend your precious time to watch this video. the money you spent will be compensated… ohhh wait! it was free!!! 2. there are many things that more important than playing guitar; READING for example! please don't waist any more time and go to an elementary school because if you knew how to read you would see the word "Beginners" in the title and would never waist your golden time here. now go and continue being a guitar god inside your tiny heads!
Nice thanks
Y'all talk to fucking much..
I appreciate the lesson very much. These are the letters in the alphabet, then you use them to write words and later sentences. Do not pay attention to the negative comments. This lesson really helped me break through playing some good licks and basic solos,I will build upon from here. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to us less versatile players.
This is pretty cool. How can I get this video downloaded?.
Yeah that's cool.
It's so great
That finger roll technique has eluded me for quite some time. Thank you for showing us this and the free lesson Jim. Keep up the great work! 😀
Funny how you meet so many people online who have trained their ear to oerfect pitch, and are seemingly music majors expert in theory. so seemingly appreciative of accademics, yet so opposed to someone offering to help those less far along the journey. One would expect a lot more such accomplished artists.
Dimming someone else's light won't make yours brighter
Great job on the lesson and gives a cool foundation to work from… (Y) (Y)
Thank for the great milestone lesson.
me, me, me.
nice vid.
crap mostly not helping by practice just trashtalk
Thanks great lesson
….we learn motor skills, such as stringed instruments, by doing, not by listening to you lecture. You have some psych. learning to do yourself……#$@%!!!
cool thanks very insightful would try it
