To download the tab and jam track for this lesson, be sure to visit http://www.activemelody.com/lessons/free_lesson_content/simple_lead_played_in_the_major_pentatonic_scale_key_of_e/ – This lesson is a continuation of our look at understanding the major and minor pentatonic scales and how they work together. In this lesson you’ll learn a very basic lead part that has several repetitive licks, which allows you to hear how the same lick can be repeated even though the chords underneath may be changing.
Great video!!! Can you tell me specially how you stop the open D string from ringing out after you release your bend on the G- string?
dude awesome almost couldn't put down my guitar
Hey Brian, This is excellent! Everything very clear & complete. Nice little piece that can be expanded on. Very easy to use this same pattern in other keys. I'm going to do that with backing tracks in many other keys, great exercise!
I'm gaining on your EP183 lesson & learning a lot. This ol dog is learning some new tricks!
Thanks a million Brian!

where do I download the jam track
Good teacher
hello, I am a song writer but not much of a lead player. I am currently working on a solo for a country song with the following chord progression G D Am C. What scale would you recommend for that?
I really appreciate your awesome lyrics, and the way you blend in, very creative and comprehensive.
Many thanks kuokong
So, how is the jam track for free if i have to be a 'premium member' to download it?
awesome….thanks for the lesson
can i know whats the whole key of that backing track
very glad and ecited that I found your web site. I was a member of guitar instructor which taught me a lot. a have also used yousician. which, also taught me many things. now that I have found active melody, I believe that I can put it all together and maybe play some songs. not just playing chords, scales and improvising everything. I plan on checking out the freebies and purchasing a years worth. which is a great deal for the premium package. thanks again.

That Boss RC3 looper is a great tool. I borrowed my brothers one time, built up a series of layers and got a good backing track, only for him to accidentally delete it! Back up a copy in case you are in the company of two great tools. Great fun for practice lead and scales.
great lessons for harmonica also. thank you.
Hi Brian, I'm fairly new to guitar playing and love your videos. You explain and demonstrate everything so clearly that it's bringing my playing on so much more quickly so mega thanks to you. You deserve some sort of Internet Oscar for the work you do.
I would love to play more blues using my Boss RC3 looper but am struggling to put together a blues backing track to make practicing scales more fun. Would you put together a vid on building up a blues backing track using a looper? Keep up the fantastic work.
didn't know frank lampard can play guitar well too.
You are a very good teacher and bless you for taking the time to share your knowledge with inspiring guitar players, Thank you !
Happened across this video today and it caught my eye because I have the same Tele but with a Birdseye Maple fret board. I'm a relative newbee and I"m SO glad this got my attention. I have check out a lot of lessons and I found this to be one of the easiest to follow. EXCELLENT deliver, Brian. THANK YOU. I have subscribed and next stop is http://www.ActiveMelody.com
What's the backing track please ?
I have seen some of your tutorial on soloing. I just a beginner; where should I start. Please advise
His point of sliding everything from the minor pentatonic down three if u want to ay C the major is good tip most players do not notice on there own. The minor starts on the third but the major begins on the tonic. I use this a lot but try not to make it noticeable. Press the encircled D to hear Dirty DOM guitar things. You can also find Dirty DOM Music.Press (funky junk guitar). These r not commercial works and no goods or services,r available, however u can watch more fingers than face a D r free to take lucks for your own. I'll Play the Blues for You is a story told to Albert King music.I call Penatonic Panatonic in it lol.
the best teacher ever..
hi man active melody, which chords do we use for this lesson thanks you.

Can anyone explain the second part please because he doesn't really explain that? It's pretty frustrating

Brian am so happy to have found this video coz it has put a light into ma guitar world.
your the man brother
Brian, there are so many great guitar tutorialists out there but for whatever I just seem to keep on coming back to you. I love you stuffs, how you teach and what you teach. I particularly liked the instalment on the Keith Richards rhythm guitar style. Just can't get enough of those double stops!
Would love to see you doing a tutorial dedicated specifically to double stops.
Brian i love these little Blues lessons……and after a while put them all together and bam….maybe a solo or song..Thanks for all you do..:)
