Eruption was the birth of shred – something to remember you could be the fastest best guitarist in the world but it doesn't mean anything if it's not in the context of a song, writing a good song is more important than chops. You can teach notes but imagination and creativity are things that can not be taught. In the process you stat to discover how difficult it can be to find your unique sound and that is probably the hardest thing to do in music. Van Halen had it for sure You Really Got Me sounded nothing like The Kinks but remember no one would have ever heard Eruption if it weren't for You Really Got Me and Runnin With the Devil.
